Snow pulls are a lot harder to pull high weights in due to the runners freezing to the track and the amount of traction the dog can get. Alaska weather and temps
are ideal/extreme for snow pulls though and the best
pull weights come from dogs pulling here.
The 1976 World Record of 5220 pounds on snow still stands, for now.....
Since this pull started in 1969, no one owner of three dogs entered in the heavy weight division has won First, Second, and Third place. But on February 27, 2005 that all changed. Three of my Saints were entered in the World Championship Dog Weight Pull(sm) and won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (George,Fet Magge, Silverbelle). And again in 2006 with three different Saints won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (Payton, Big Bertha, and her son Godzilla), AND Shakka with less than 5 weeks training won the 2006 World Middleweight Champion title.
